Mark Chamberlain – Chairman of the Board

Mark is an accomplished and proven entrepreneur/business executive who specializes in transforming nascent ideas from concepts to sustainable companies. Mark is best known for his time at Wescam. He joined Wescam in 1985 and became President and CEO in 1987, when he led a management buyout team to purchase the company. Under his leadership, Wescam became a public company trading on the TSX in 1995, made several acquisitions, and established itself as a leader in visual information systems markets around the world. As a result, the company grew from a 17-person organization located in Canada with revenues of less than $1 million in 1987, to a 550-person company with six facilities located throughout North America and revenues of $166 million in 2001. Mark is currently a member of the board and Vice-Chair of the Hamilton Community Foundation and a member of the Board of the Ontario Centers of Excellence. He holds a Bachelor of Applied Science degree (BASc) and a Masters of Applied Science degree (MASc) in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Waterloo.

Gora Ganguli – President & CEO

Gora is a technology/business executive with extensive experience in the micro-electronics and semiconductor industries, including over 10 years in hearing instruments. Prior to VitaSound, Gora was a Senior Vice-President at Gennum Corporation and General Manager of its Audio & Wireless Division. He successfully led the transition from analog technologies to digital and broadened the scope of business from hearing instruments to consumer-focused audio and wireless products. During this period, he served two terms as Director on the boards of the Hearing Industry Association and the Better Hearing Institute and was twice elected Secretary/Treasurer of both organizations. Before Gennum, Gora was with IBM in their Micro-Electronics Division. At IBM, he performed various technical and management functions, and ultimately in senior operational and business unit management positions. Based in Canada, he also undertook international assignments in the United States and Japan. Involved in university-industry relations throughout his career, he was a member of the original team that developed the Advanced Design and Manufacturing Institute (ADMI) program and remains a member of its Program Committee. He was on the Advisory Board of the Operations Management Program at McGill University’s Faculty of Management, where he also taught Operations Management as a Faculty Lecturer. Gora holds a B.Eng. in mechanical engineering and an MBA, both from McGill University in Montreal, Canada.

Dr. Philippe Pango – Chief Technology Officer

Philippe brings years of experience and expertise in the area of audio and speech enhancement algorithms and hardware. Prior to joining VitaSound, he was the CEO and President of CAYCe Medical Inc., a company that he founded in partnership with McMaster University. He was instrumental in licensing, funding, and developing McMaster’s Neuro-Compensation™ technology, a unique audio amplification strategy for hearing-aids. Prior to CAYCe, Philippe was a senior member of technical staff at Gennum Corporation for seven years. As team leader, he was instrumental in the company’s transition to digital technology, actually designing several of the company’s high-end integrated circuits (ASIC). In addition to his ASIC design expertise, his audio and speech enhancement algorithms have been adopted by dozens of hearing-aid manufacturers around the world. More recently, Philippe helped Gennum Corporation penetrate new business segments, by implementing several audio enhancement and noise reduction algorithms for wireless Bluetooth® headsets, as well as a variety of other audio processing solutions for the entertainment industry. As Chief Technology Officer of VitaSound, Philippe directs VitaSound’s R&D program and coordinates the research effort with our partners and customers. He holds a Ph.D in Telecommunications (INRS-Montréal) and a Master Degree in Signal Processing (UQTR). He is the author of three patents.
